Patch Notes - Ank II - November 2nd 2024

Khepresh Original Vision Fulfilled:
Khepresh has recieved it's original vision for The Kha'labal.

u New Houses have been added to Ankrahmun.
u For Lease Durations: Instead of lasting 1 Real Life months they now lasts 6 months.
u When you first purchase a lease-house the fee of the 1st month will be deducted from your person immediately.
u For every month after that during your lease the month's fee will be deducted from you bank account.
u If you don't have money in your bank account to pay the monthly fee you will be kicked from the lease and not have to pay the remaining amount.
u If you want to leave your lease-house you can do so at anytime with !leavehouse. When doing this the remaining fees on the lease do not need to be paid.
u This effectively means you can only own the lease for 6 months, but you do not need to pay 6 months up front, only 1 month at a time.
u When a lease expires instead of now having to wait 12 Real Life hours to repurchase the same house (which will allow others to purchase it) you now must wait 24 hours.

VALOR LAUNCH

-

Valor Launches!

Valor - An Arcade Game - Heroism and Bloodlust
Valor is not the same as Dura Classic, in fact it's not like any OT you've ever seen or played before. You're about to embark on a truly unforgettable experience. Valor's experience puts fun foremost. Like games we played when we we're younger -- hit 'Play' button and enjoy yourself for an hour. Just playing games and having fun each new game-screen. This is what Valor aims to achieve, all of this while not ever descending into something Cartoony, which so often happens on these more explosive high-rates -- gameplay that doesn't feel weighted and carry consequences, but feels hollow. The decisions, strategies, and skills you employ in Valor will matter but they will be greatly amplified to your triumph or devastation.

Tournament and Hall of Fame:
Although Valor is first and foremost about simply having fun it will contain within it a Tournament! This Tournament will culminate in a Hall of Fame where at the end of the Tournament Period there will be placements in various categories with Prizes. The following is the Categories and Prizes with the total Prize Pool being $3,500+ worth of Dura Coins, but the real Prize is being the Best:

    • Experience:
    • 1 : 5000 Dura Coins
    • 2 : 3000 Dura Coins
    • 3 : 1000 Dura Coins
    • 4-10 : 250 Dura Coins
    • 11-20 : 100 Dura Coins

    • Melee:
    • 1 : 3000 Dura Coins
    • 2 : 2000 Dura Coins
    • 3 : 1000 Dura Coins
    • 4-10 : 250 Dura Coins
    • 11-20 : 100 Dura Coins

    • Distance:
    • 1 : 3000 Dura Coins
    • 2 : 2000 Dura Coins
    • 3 : 1000 Dura Coins
    • 4-10 : 250 Dura Coins
    • 11-20 : 100 Dura Coins

    • Magic Level:
    • 1 : 3000 Dura Coins
    • 2 : 2000 Dura Coins
    • 3 : 1000 Dura Coins
    • 4-10 : 250 Dura Coins
    • 11-20 : 100 Dura Coins

a) The tournament is a great part of Valor, but you should not feel obligated to be a part of it. The goal of Valor is to have fun; the tournament is an extra-layer to that -- not it's primary design purpose.
b) These Dura Coins will be given to the Winners on the next Dura Tournament Server
c) There will also be the Categories of Most Frags & Largest Bank Balance, but since these can be exploited there will be no Prizes for it.

GAME ROLL

  • Rookgaard on Launch:
To deal with decongestion on Rookgaard at launch time Valor has the following in place:
    • 2.2x Spawn Rate
    • Tons of Raids
    • Dura's Experience Quests
    • Walk Through Players (only on Rook)
  • Raid Game Roll
    • There will be only Rookgaard Raids on the first day of the server.
    • However in the following days as the server matures (population levels up) we will activate the according raids each day that the populace can handle. As an example the 2nd Day of Valor will already have 20+ new raids added to the Gameworld via Patch.
  • Spawn Rate Game Roll
    • Valor's Spawn Rate is 1.9x during the entirety of the server except during this first week where it will be 2.2x. Why? Since In-Game-Store-Items will not be activated until a minimum of 7+ days after the Game's Launch there will be no Global-Boost for Spawn Rate which will be set at 15% it's available. When this is active it would make the 1.9x Spawn Rate effectively 2.2x but in lieu of the Global-Spawn-Boost not being available we're making it so the first week will be 2.2x Rate.
  • In-Store Game Roll
    • There will be In-Store Items players can buy but only after 7+ Days from Launch. These Items are mostly, but not only, Global Boosts (which everyone will equally benefit from). Except for the Catch-Up Store Item there is no in-store item that gives more than a 10% advantage to a single player. The reason we're holding off from activating the In-Game-Store for the first 7 days is because we think overall it will allow for a more healthy and fun gameworld over the coming months.
  • Polling
    • We will not be doing any changes to the Game-Settings (except flagrant issues) unless it is carried by majoirty vote. We have polling in our Discord. We will be polling patches/changes for Valor after it launches in the coming weeks/months. If you'd like to be able to vote about what we should do: Discord Polling
  • Things were planning to and will patch
  • Sunsetting Valor:
    • The Tournament starts on Valor's launch and ends exactly 90 days after. At the end of the Tournament placements are locked in but Valor does not close as people will still be wanting to war as well as personal goals (full legendary set!) etc. etc.
    • The server itself will be kept open at least 6-12 months total, which will largely rely on player count. If people are still playing then why close it.
    • But Valor compresses 18 Months of Gameplay into 3 Months of Gameplay. When most people hit endgame slowly but steadily the player population will obviously go down, people wanting to play other games, or even wanting to restart. That is reality, every single OTServer and Game is like this. The only ones that are not like this are 1x's and that is not what Valor is -- Valor is a high-octane Arcade Experience.
    • Therefore at the lastest of 12 months and the earliest of 6 months, but likely somewhere in the middle due to player count Dura Valor will close. We hope you appreciate this transparency -- 90% of games are like this but they don't say it. We are.
  • Report Bugs:
    • This is in many ways a brand new game! You'll see what we mean soon enough! If you find bugs report them here: Discord Bug Reports

Note:
Dura Classic and Valor are two different games with different Rates and different Rules. Each Website respectively has it's Rates and Rules listedin the proper place: Server Rates and Rules.

We hope you have Fun,

Dura Staff

u 'What is Dura' About Page: What is Dura?

Lastly we're damn excited! We've been working on this a long time with great care and passion; so much has gone into its design -- how we can make a gaming experience that is not only balanced and competitive but something enthralling, something that locks you in and doesn't let go. Optimistic to say the least -- it's gonna be fun, a huge turnout, and definitely something you've never seen before! To note we're still listening to feedback from everyone and it's definite we're going to make some adjustments to the Game's Rates and Settings before Launch Day -- Thank you for Feedback!

Vision and Intent
Fundamentally our priority for this New Server is: Fun, and fun above all else. In pursuing this, our approach is to allow a person to experience all the thrill and adventure Dura has to offer in a much more compressed timeline; we believe the average player will be able to experience everything from beginning to end within 2.5 to 3.5 months, all while maintaining that perfect pace you experience between levels 1 and 50. Further, while PvE and RPG gameplay will be more than enough for many and you certainly won't need to do more, the Game Set will promote and allow a robust setting for PvP, making for truly unforgettable moments of sport and carnage. Across all of this, both PvE and PvP, the key word for ths server is 'arcade': we want the game to feel like a non-stop ride, where though there will be a slight push and pull of consequences it will never be so severe that it should even for a moment have you want to get off out of pain, distaste, or boredom.

Website Changes
u u You will be able to switch between both websites interchangeably via the Topbar. Each website respectively will have it's own rates, rules, and so forth.
u The current website, will now be here, which will be used for the current server, Dura Classic: https://classic.dura-online.com/
u u You will notice also we've updated the Classic Website, removed various webpages and updated many others like 'What is Dura' and so forth.
u Lastly there is a new Landing Page, which will take you to both Classic and New Server Website, here: https://dura-online.com/

Game Settings
u You may find detailed Game Settings for the New Server, here in our Discord: New Server Game Settings
u Please give as much feedback as possible on the Game Settings, the Rules, and everything else! We are straight up looking to go with what the majority wants for many of the settings.
u u There are some Game Settings that we are leaving entirely up to players and as of now they are undecided, while at the same time all Game Settings, Rules, Extras are still open to being adjusted or outright changed based on feedback.
u u Feedback for Game Settings can be given directly in this master thread: New Server Settings Thread At the same time there is an entire feedback forum, here: New Server Forum for anything regarding the New Server, whether Game-Set, Rules, or other relevant topics and even more niche subjects/settings like spells or mana-fluids etc. etc.

Sparing No Expense
We're sparing no expense for this New Server. We will be putting a great deal of resources and energy towards marketing and promotion, so from launch day right up until the end of the tournament the lands of Dura should be extremely populated, humming with activity.

Tournament in a Nutshell
u Roughly the plan for the Tournament itself is: Launch-Day it begins and will then last for 3 months. At the end of the allotted time the Tournament will end and the placements will be locked in but the Server/Gameworld itself will not close and people can keep playing as much as they want.
u There will be placements for various categories, each with corresponding prizes. E.G. highest experience, most frags, biggest bank account, and much more. Prizes firstly will be the prestige of being the best itself but also Dura Coins. The prizes for the given placements will be listed before Launch-Day.
u To note you shouldn't feel compelled or even primarily motivated to play this Server for the Tournament aspect itself. Though we think it will be a great time for some players, it's really just one more layer to add to the festivities and excitement. At core The Server's purpose is foremost the sheer joy of the game itself, the pure wild fun of it.

Accounts and Character Creation
Accounts and character creation are ready to be made right away. So feel free to start creating them but remember to not lose your login information! Keep in mind that there is no crossover between our First World's Accounts, Dura Classic, and our New Server's Accounts. This means you cannot have characters on the same account on different worlds -- a Classic account has only classic characters and a New Server account has only New Server characters.

More Soon!
More information will be coming, but again we encourage you to be part of what's coming by giving us feedback and your ideas about what we should change and work on! We're still mulling over some decisions like how long the Tournament itself will last, which Skull System we'll be using, how Launch-Day and Rookgaard will be handled, and as we mentioned various game settings and what not. Which is again why we want you to tell us everything you're thinking, we're listening! Thanks!

Regards,
Dura Staff

Updated Ambush System

-

 The System's Release

We've spoken about this being built many times before and today we're finally launching it: Dura's new Ambush System. It's an entirely new approach to ambushes. Therefore many, if not all, of the old ambushes are not being removed or even changed. Instead there has been near a thousand ambushes added across the map with this initial release.

To get this system itself right it took a great deal of effort, it is where the bulk of our time went concerning this system thusfar, therefore not everywhere in the map will yet have this system (meaning some areas will have it more than others.) As we go forward we will look to increase the coverage of this system throughout the entire gameworld, including new updates, but for now we feel there is more than enough with this current release.

The other reason we want to release the system now and not wait any longer is because we want to see how it starts to integrate within the game. Based on your feedback and our observation we're looking to improve the system starting right away. Improve it through first adjusting the current ambushes we release today, getting them just right, but even moreso by improving our understanding in design for future ambushes as we go forward.

Ambush System, What to Expect
Internally this system has been called the Sophisticated Ambush System. We want to reiterate now what we have said in the past, it is:
u Extremely Unpredictable
u Extremely Variable
u Extremely Complex
u And Extremely Deadly

The hope, and it's a confident one, is that it will therefore be extremely fun. It's very hard for words to represent what this system will do for Dura. Therefore we're not going to try, you will find out as you play.

On Giving Feedback
u We're looking for any and everything you gather from playing with these ambushes -- we strongly encourage and request you to give all feedback, we are depending on it.
u General feedback about the overall system: what parts you like/dislike, what it does well, what it does poorly, ideas you have, how to improve it and so forth is very helpful.
u But what will be even more helpful is specific local feedback: a specific experience, interaction, ambush you had. Where was it, what was it, what happened, what level/voc/skills/equipment/team-orientation, whatever seems relevant: difficulty, deadliness, fair/unfair, balanced, duration, surprise, enjoyable, annoying, cool, good/bad lore/feel, better/worse exp/loot, and on and on -- this type of specific local feedback is of extreme help to us figuring out how to improve.
u u Moreover with this specific local feedback, as a first priority and preference please post a clip/video/screenshot of the event/ambush/interaction in question. This is massively helpful so we can understand the system better and what we need to do to perfect it, how to design it so it is even more fun and balanced.
u u Please consider posting them even if you think they're of no consequence/speciality/interest to you. Our development team wants to see as many ambushes as possible so we can do our best to design the system. We want to see the good and the bad and all that's in between.
u u We'll take anything in the way of feedback, but the more detailed and the more data/evidence (clips/screens) the feedback is the better we will understand what you yourself see, experience, and speak on.

Where to Give Feedback
u There is an Ambush System - Master Thread in the feedback-forum for this: Ambush Master Thread
u Feel free however to open up a new thread concerning ambushes or an ambush - we will be sure to review those as well, here: Feedback Forum
u There is also a new tag in the feedback-forum: "Ambush Feedback"

Dura Staff

Beasts of Old Age

-

As the last rays of sun fall back behind jagged peaks, a deep, ancient stillness grips the land. The once tranquil valleys tremble, not with fear, but with the weight of the land's ancestors. From shadowed dens and forgotten caves, they emerge — hulking titans of a bygone era, their gnarled hides thick with the stories of centuries past. Time itself seems to bend under foot as these beasts reclaim their ancestral domains. In their eyes swill the knowledge of ages, their roars mistaken for clashes of storm and thunder.

The Beasts of Old Age have awoken — their time has come again.

From Thursday September 12th to Monday September 16th the event Beasts of Old Age will be active. During that time normal, that is non-raid, non-ambush, non-elite, and non-party creatures will behave very differently. They will have 300% Health and equivalent Experience and Loot. However they will also spawn much slower.

To Age,
Dura Staff

Toughness

-

With it too late in the year to begin any campaigns Harkath Bloodblade, the old General, has instructed his veteran soldiers to start training new recruits in the art of combat. The veterans begin with defensive stances and tactics that will keep a man alive long enough so he may use his sword.

The event, Toughness, will occur from Friday August 30th Server Save to Tuesday September 3rd Server Save.

u During this event all damage that players receive is reduced by 15%
u During this event all damage that players deal to monsters is decreased by 3%
